“A thoroughly bright and enjoyable three-act piece called ‘Society,’ was produced here last evening with complete success. The name is not well chosen, inasmuch as the piece deals with many phases of human life, and not merely with that single phase which is expressed in the title. The authors are Messrs. F. [sic] Robertson and R. Phillips Noah, gentlemen who do not display much invention, but who have an excellent knowledge of stage points and of character. It is emphatically an acting piece, and in the hands of a company like Wallack’s affords an evening’s enjoyable entertainment. Its reception was in the highest degree flattering, and justifies a further and lengthier notice. The acting was very good, and the scenery was of course excellent.”
