“The last appearance of Bryants’ Minstrels in this city for the season occurs this evening, when a complimentary benefit will be given to Neil Bryant, one of the brothers. This troupe is one of the best in the country, and during a number of years past has done as much for the amusement of the people as any other similar organization. The announcement of the benefit of Neil should alone have the effect of bringing out a large audience.”
“The season at Bryant’s [sic] Minstrel Hall terminated on Saturday evening with Neil Bryant's [sic] benefit. The house was of course well attended. It is never otherwise. . . . Early in the fall the Bryant's [sic] will have their new hall in readiness. It is altered from Dr. Chapin’s church.”
“Bryants’ Minstrels closed their season at 472 Broadway on the 2d inst. With a benefit to Neil Bryant. It is not likely that the troupe will again appear at this old minstrel stand, as it is now rather too far down town. It was at this place that the late E. P. Christy was so successful as a minstrel manager. He opened in 1842, and gave up the business in 1854, during which time his profits amounted to one hundred and eighty-one thousand and eighty-seven dollars; his best year’s business was in 1850, when he cleared twenty-six thousand dollars and over. The Bryants have been equally successful, although at one time the profits had to be divided among three brothers—Dan, Jerry and Neil. We are of the opinion that the Bryants’ profits in one year exceeded the highest figure of Christy’s. We hear that the Bryants are negotiating for an up town property.”
