Not well attended. Rehearsal promises a grand concert tonight. However, the rehearsal was clearly necessary, because several repetitions were needed for the ensemble to sing with clarity and confidence, for example in the “Thürmerchor.” It is no wonder that there are difficulties in the performance, because the chorusters did not have the opportunity to sing in a mass chorus for 4-5 years and certainly that needs practice. In addition we would like to suggest to only have trained singers participate in the mass chorus to not disturb the musical balance of the educated voices. The four pieces chosen for the main chorus are good choices. The event was sold out by the afternoon.

Includes the program. “Yesterday morning a grand rehearsal was had of the following…at which the two thousand singers were present, and in which they participated, to the great delight of the few privileged ones in the audience.”
