Announcement: New York Clipper, 05 August 1865, 134.

“Wood’s Minstrels are going to do ‘The Old Maids’ this week, with ‘Handy Andy,’ ‘Flat Foot Jake,’ and ‘The Bounty Jumpers,’ after which they will attempt ‘Running the Blockade’ to escape the penalty due the enormity of their offences.  Have you been at Wood’s lately?  Drop in some time, and enjoy yourself in witnessing the show.  Its [sic] a comfortable hall, the audiences are respectable, and the entertainments sufficiently varied to suit the different tastes.”

Review: New York Clipper, 12 August 1865, 142.

“There was so much fun in the programme given by Wood’s Minstrels last week, and so much enjoyment manifested by the audiences, that the manager has determined to repeat it the current week.  As far as an indoor place of amusement can be comfortable in dog days, Wood’s cozy hall is one of those places, for it is as well ventilated as any establishment in town.  The entertainments are very pleasing, and just long enough not to tire you.”
