Review: New York Herald, 07 July 1866, 102.

“The Frisco boys have had one of the most brilliant seasons ever known in negro minstrelsy, in this or any other city in the world. They came to New York with a newly organized company, and opened at a place that was not very popular with the play going public, and in opposition to two other very popular minstrel halls, and with friends on all sides trying to dissuade them from the undertaking, prophesying a great failure.  They opened, however, and the public was not long in finding out that it was one of the best minstrel organizations ever seen in this city.  They gave a first class show, attended to their business, studied the tastes of the public, and the consequence is a great success.”
