“And we are to have still another ‘Mazeppa,’ the San Francisco Minstrels—eyes alive to what is popular and exciting—announcing a burlesque of Byron’s poem and Menken’s delineation of the character. The mock Mazep. will prove almost as attractive as the real, and those who witness the one will wish to see the other. The success of the Frisco boys continues to be very cheering; it should be so, for their efforts are as laborious as the duties of the Health Commission. After you have seen the Menken, go and see the San Francisco troupe.”
