     “ . . . The Irish dances introduced into this piece are especially worth seeing, by reason of their purely national flavor. Mr. Bryant, by the way, ought to omit the speeches in rhyme. They are not in keeping with the character of Shamus O’Brien, nor with the circumstances in which they are spoken, and Mr. Bryant delivers them in a sort of chant which is absolutely ludicrous. It may be well, also, to remind Miss Rosa Cooke that it is her province to act and not to dawdle.”
