     “We can the better endure our deprivation of the opera when we can listen to the exquisite music given nightly by Theodore Thomas’s orchestra at Terrace Garden. The selections are always made from the works of good composers, but on Tuesday and Friday evenings the classical productions of the great masters are given greater prominence. Faithfully and beautifully rendered as these are, their effect in the education of the public taste can hardly be over-estimated. On Wednesday night the works of Beethoven will constitute a large part of the programme."
