“Unfortunately for themselves, the Buislay Family came here at a most unpropitious time, when the heat of summer was driving people from the city, while unfounded cholera reports had a tendency to frighten our usual summer visitors from the country, and prevent them from having their customary ‘jolly good spree’ in the metropolis. The burning of the Academy of Music—which they had leased for a season—also operated seriously to their disadvantage and pecuniarily the speculation has not been successful.  Artistically, however, the Buislays have made a very favorable impression.”
