Article: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 30 January 1864.

“The German Opera company seems to have bad luck in Brooklyn: something is always going wrong. Last night, for instance, a sizeable audience was lacking. The house was poorly attended, which was a real shame, because the performance of Nicolai’s ‘Lustigen Weiber von Windsor’ was excellent. Mr. Hermann, as ‘Falstaff,’ Mr. Habelmann and Mesdames Johannsen and Friderici were outstanding and well received.”
