“The new German theatre—the Thalia—which has been opened in Broadway, in an institution which is well adapted to compete with an old fogy concern [The Stadttheater], and no doubt will be well patronized. . . Last night the theatre was not crowded, but a select audience was there, when one of those envious French plays which have been translated into the German, and a French farce (in German) were represented. . .  That there were faults committed by some of the . . . actors is a fact which need not to be mentioned.”
