“This popular company has no superior in point of wit, humor, music, and dancing in America. The tenor ballad of Messrs. Wambold and Templeton, the admirable quartette of really good singers, the dancing of Messrs. Cooper and Fields, the instrumental solos of Messrs. Donniker and Bailey and above all the side-splitting jokes of Billy Birch and Charley Backus, nightly attract crowded houses. There is no better place in which a person can enjoy a hearty laugh and rid himself of ennui and care. Last night was but a sample of the other nights of the season—everything on the bill was good. Messrs. Wambold and Templeton ought not, however, immure their really good, fresh tenor voices in a minstrel hall. Let them follow the examples of Castle and Campbell, and they may attain the same success.”
