“This evening, in this splendid location, there will be a grand Summer Night’s Festival held by the ‘Rheinische Sängerbund,’ in which the singing societies Fidelia, Flora, Mozarters, Polyhymnia and Uhlandbund will take part. The concert program, which the readers may find in a different column of our paper, contains some excellent numbers.”

Review: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 05 August 1863, 8.

“Last evening, the ‘Rheinische Sängerbund’ held a Sommernachtsfest in the above premises, which is rightly called the largest and most beautiful in the Bowery since its renovation, and was supported by the singing societies Fidelia, Flora, Mozartverein, Polyhymnia and Uhlandbund. The festival started after eight o’clock with a concert, the program containing both vocal and instrumental music. Sturz’s choral ‘Willkommen’ with orchestral accompaniment was performed under the direction of Herrn F. Krüger with precision and perfect expression. The ‘Tyroler-Jägerlied,’ sung by the Uhlandbund, had to be repeated, and so did several others from the other participating associations.” [At this point the text becomes illegible, although a portion mentioning that the concert closed with a ball is clear.]
