“A Variety of Performances were given at Charley White’s Hall last week. In addition to the regular burnt cork acts, W. H. Ashton and his two sons appeared in a variety of gymnastic performances…The rest of the evening’s entertainment consisted of the usual performances of the corps of Ethiopians and dancing. Charley White did not appear all last week, having met with an accident on Sept. 23d while out riding, he was thrown with great violence to the ground, and so badly bruised that he was laid up all the week.”
