Review: New York Herald, 11 December 1866, 7.

“Charley White and his combination troupe continue nightly to attract ever-increasing houses in their snug little theatre at 472 Broadway, lately hallowed by the genius of Dan Bryant. The programme is an unusually brilliant one, and the promise made to the eye is more than fulfilled to the ear. Harry Burchard’s able ventriloquial [sic] displays meet with the most flattering demonstrations of approval. The entertainment at present closes with The Mischievous Nigger—a farce yet more mirth provoking than its title. To unfortunate dyspeptics, afflicted with the blues, few more potent medicines can be recommended than a visit to this temple of melody and humor.”
