"Les Mousquetaires de la Reine did not attract the audience it should last evening. There were too many empty seats for such a sparkling, brilliant, opera, the hearing of which should drive away ennui and promote good humor and geniality. Mlles. Naddie and Laurentis were in excellent voice, and the court intrigue was successfully carried out. Olivier . . . was represented by M. Anthelme with the grace and finished action and voice that has characterized all his roles so far.”

The singers of the French Theater do not possess grand voices, however, they do offer accurate and skillful singing, pleasant acting and elegant appearances. They speak their dialogues well, often better than members of acting-only theaters, and what we’d like to praise above all else is: they never exaggerate in their acting. The elegance of interplay is underlined by the luxurious costumes.
