Announcement: Courrier des États-Unis, 21 November 1862.
Dachauer is not an ordinary composer. In a time when sacred music has nearly succumbed to secular music, Mr. Dachauer, faithful to the traditions of the masters of the harmony, has been able to achieve a reputation guided only by his own inspiration, [he has not done] like many contemporary composers, who bring to church music that which should only be used in theaters. Among his recent publications, we’ll mention a Mass for Four vv., an Ave Maria for soprano or tenor, and a Regina coeli for tenor and chorus.
