Program Details

The announcement of 01/12/67 mistakenly names the groom as Harvey Dodworth. The announcement of 01/19/67 correctly names Harvey’s nephew, Allen, as the groom.

The announcement of 01/19/67 provides Allen's middle initial as "B," but he is elsewhere cited as "Allen T. Dodworth" (see events in which he participated).

Announcement: New York Clipper, 12 January 1867, 318.

“Commencing the New Year.—Harvey Dodworth, leader of the orchestra at Niblo’s, was married on New Year’s day to Sarah Sutherland. The affair came off at that quiet village called Morrisania, N.Y. ‘Ever be happy.’”

Announcement: New York Clipper, 19 January 1867, 326.

We married the wrong man last week, for which the wrong man should feel under a deep sense of obligation to us for giving him one week’s bliss of honeymoon, while the right man, no doubt, feels deeply grieved at the wrong unintentionally done him. We announced that Harvey B. Dodworth was married on the closing day of the old year, which he was not; on the contrary, it was Allen B. Dodworth, a newphew of Harvey, that was united in the silken bonds, and to him belong the compliments on the season, and to Harvey the commiseration of his many friends.”
