“A very large audience, consisting of the members of Kane Lodge, No. 454, F. and A. M., with their ladies and a number of invited guests, were present last evening at the new Hall, corner of Broadway and Twenty-second-street, upon the occasion of its dedication and the installation of the officers-elect of the lodge. The ceremonies of dedication and installation were performed under the direction of Thomas S. Sommers, Esq. the Master-elect of Kane Lodge, who acted as proxy for the Grand Master, Robert E. Holmes. At the conclusion of these most impressive ceremonies, a choice programme of vocal and instrumental music was dispensed, under the leadership of Prof. J. N. King, who presided at the organ. Every effort of the very able choir of artists who assisted him was received with the most marked evidence of satisfaction. Grafulla's Seventh Regiment Band was represented by six first-class brass pieces, which contributed their share toward the pleasure of the occasion. An address by R. W. John H. Anthon was delivered in the usual excellent manner of that gentleman and well received. After the singing of a closing ode, in which the whole company joined, the assemblage was dismissed with the benediction.”
