“The hackneyed opera of Il Trovatore was given at the French theatre last night, with Mlles. Naddie, Bonconsiglia, and Laurentis and Messrs. Armand, Wilhelm and Vert in the principal rôles. The audience was not very large, but very select, and rewarded the efforts of the artists with applause. Mlle. Naddie, although her voice is unsuited for grand opera as regards volume and steadiness, sang with charming grace and feeling, that almost compensated for these deficiencies. Wilhelm and Armand were also received with favor, and acquitted themselves to the satisfaction of the audience.”
