“At two o’clock an interesting fairy extravaganza called The Wooden Shoe-Maker is performed, in which Mr. George Brookes and his pretty wife especially distinguish themselves, and Miss Schell dances a lively wooden shoe dance. Then in the afternoon, too, an expert young man dances what he calls ‘The Peck Measure Dance,’ during which he cuts terpsichorean capers inside, outside, on the edge and all around a peck measure. . .”
