“This excellent minstrel troupe continues to maintain the unexampled popularity which has for so long been its prerogative. Messrs. Birch and Backus, with their original and witty ‘bon mots,’ took the house by storm from the time they took their seats.  Mr. Wambold’s ‘Come here, Father,’ gained a well deserved encore as did also Billy Birch’s ‘Isabella, with her gingham Umbrella.” In the second part, which consists principally of negro extravaganzas, the company maintained their well known reputation. Mr. W. Bernard particularly gained well deserved applause from a crowded house.”
