“Last evening Messrs. Stetson & Co., proprietors of the Astor House, gave the twenty-fourth Annual ball to their employees. The principal dining roon had been very handsomely decorated for the occasion, and the festivities were participated in by about five hundred persons, many distinguished guests being present. Dancing commenced about eight o’clock to the fine music of Dodworth’s band, and under the able management of Messr. Stetson, aided by Mr. Brown, steward of the hotel, and the ‘irrepresible’ Bants, the enjoyment of the numerous guests was as great as was the good spirit engendered between the employees and their employer.”
