(…) Klein as a tenor as well as Lange were astounding. Mrs. von Berkel sang and acted nicely while Steglich-Fuchs’ excellent acting made up for the lack of singing skill. The singing of the chorus had to be slowed down by Hermig. The performance was well received by the audience.

(…) The performers were not well-prepared in regards to the vocal challenges. Most of the actors were not able to convince as singers except for Mrs. Berkel whose voice has become fresher and fuller since her illness; and except for Pollack who sang better than he acted. Steglich-Fuchs brought liveliness and humor into the otherwise bad performance. The music was too slow and thus had a tiring effect. Unfortunately the sound slumber was interrupted by dissonant and ugly pitches.
