“Birch, Bernard, Wambold and Backus still prove a strong drawing team, whose power is only equaled by their wit and their fertility in invention. Their entertainment this week is overflowing with rollicking fun, and embraces several novelties in the shape of burlesque opera acts. The dancing of Cooper and Fields, the singing of Wambold, the imitation of actors by Backus, and Birch’s stump speech still form the prominent features of the excellent programme of the establishment, which does not lack appreciation at the hands of their large audiences.”
