“AS USUAL, the San Francisco Minstrels’ Hall was thronged every night last week with happy faces.  One and a half hour’s pleasantry, such as this party give, is certainly an antidote to every sort of misery or sorrow. They are a match for hard times and rueful faces. Black, it is known, absorbs light, and does not radiate it; but the faces of the minstrels radiate the cheerful light and good humor, and their songs are full of it. If you are fond of exquisite melodies, if you love to laugh over a capital joke, you will find ‘nuts to crack’ any time by dropping in at the hall. Their usual budget of fun, together with a rare collection of sentimental songs and glees, choruses, instrumental solos, etc., will be given every night this week.”
