All three performers, Jean Piccolo, Jean Petit, and Kiss Jozst, proved to be skilled and experienced comedians. Especially Piccolo, who played the lover “Felix Flausen”, excelled with an effective sense of humor, good vocal skills, and nimble movements. A large audience attended the event, and seemed to be quite amused by the performance.

Review: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 07 October 1867, 8.

The theater was completely filled in spite of the inclement weather. The moment the curtain rose, the actors were enthusiastically applauded and bombarded with flower bouquets and wreaths, which repeated itself a few scenes later. The three dwarfs move so skillfully in the field of comedy, it could make some accomplished actors feel envious. Apart from the curious first impression of their appearance, their excellent acting and natural, dry comic holds the attention of the audience throughout the entire show. Jean Picolo is the lover and hero, Jean Petit plays the character roles, and Kitz Joszi is the ideal comical old man for roles such as fathers, uncles, etc. The audience was so enchanted that it inappropriately demanded repeats of entire scenes and songs not just one but even two and three times. Of the three farces, the “Eselin” was the best. The other two were rather flat; the least best of Jacobson’s works. The “Bruder Liederlich” was almost completely copied from the well-known comedy “Dramatische Studien”.
