"The attendance at this place of amusement on last evening was both select and numerous. The performance, as usual, was received with much merriment and applause. The hat trick especially excited considerable emotions of astonishment. To see an ordinary gentlemen’s tile, taken indiscriminately from the audience, producing successively an innumerable number of drinking goblets, Chinese lanterns, cambric hankerchiefs and baby’s underwear, was productive of much wonderment and admiration."
