Orphée aux Enfers was, last evening, given by the French dramatic company for the benefit of Mlle. Naddi. Allusion has already been made to Offenbach’s work as performed by the operatic troupe, although the libretto, a tissue of nonsensical jokes and stage gags, is much better adapted to the capabilities of comedians.  This fact was made evident last evening, when the performance, albeit occasionally marred by the hitches and misunderstandings consequent upon the very hurried presentation of the piece, was quite satisfactory.  Orphée was very heatily applauded by a large and critical audience, and, when next produced, will be still more appreciated, because of the greater perfection of the rendering.  On the occasion of which we speak the artists deserved at least credit for their efforts to please.  Mlle. Naddi, the beneficiare, sang charmingly, and M. Scribot, as the strolling musician, substituted a flute for the traditional fiddle and played a solo in excellent style.”
