Review: New York Clipper, 30 March 1867.

“There appears to be no ebb in the tide of popularity which nightly flocks to see and hear Kelly and Leon’s Minstrels. With a first class minstrel entertainment the visitors seem to never tire of listening to the melodies; comic or pathetic, of Seymour, Allen, Kelly, and Oberist. The songs of the Tyrol are received on each repetition with hearty applause. As often as we have seen ‘Macbeth’ murdered in regular theatres, this company takes them all down on their version of it, as they do it up on the half shell. The burlesque of ‘Cinderella’ brings forth as much laughter as ever. The afterpiece of ‘Stop that Laughing’ is a capital thing and keeps the audience roaring with laughter. Sam Price’s ‘Salli Hinkli’ is huge.”
