“The ‘White Crook,’ produced at Tony Paastor’s Opera House, and continued the current week, is a capital affair.  It is one of John F. Poole’s productions, and is the best burlesque on the ‘Black Crook’ we have yet seen.  It follows the original piece from beginning to end, and takes off the situations capitally.  New songs have been written and set to the most popular airs of the day.  The appearance of the entire corps de ballet, dressed as policemen, and their march with drawn clubs, is very well done. . . . Taken altogether, the burlesque is exceedingly well gotten up, and played in a manner that is sure to please.”
