“The closing concert of the Mendelssohn Union took place at Irving Hall on the 13th inst. before a crowded house. The programme consisted of Berg’s [sic] third mass, a work of great merit, skillfully wrought out, and reflecting every shade of sentiment and expression contained in the sublime words of the Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus  and Agnus Dei. The performance was very good. The composer conducted on the occasion.”
