Mme. Parepa-Rosa’s expertise. Parepa-Rosa has proven to be a first class singer. Her performance is of taste and her voice never loses its pleasant sound in any range, including in parts of high emotion. The latter can only be accomplished when trained very well. Her trill is a genuine trill, not a sliding on three or four notes, as we have heard even in accomplished singers. Moreover, her scales never miss a note regardless if sung with full voice or mezzo voce, sung fast nor slow. This seems to be easy; however, how many singers can sing scales (“Scala’s”) truly artistically? We know few who would give effort to solving such a task as this.
