“. . . . Mlle Rosa Saunier, in the role of the young miller [in l’Amour que q’cest q’ca] was altogether remarkable. Never has a pants role [role in disguise] been better played. Mlle Saunier gave her character admirable grace, naturalness and ingenuity. She sang her verses with a superb voice and a skill that enchanted everyone. If Mlle Saunier became an opera singer, and if she perfected, through study, the magnificent and pleasing organ that nature has given her, she could lay claim to every success in the opera-house. In brief, the success of the evening was hers, and it’s a great success. Mlle Saunier, in whom we already recognized a great talent as a comedienne, is revealed, in this pastiche of Daphnis and Chloe, as conquering numerous admirers and enthusiasts. She was greeted as the star of our comic company.
Mlles Dembrun and Caruel performed very well, as did MM. Deligne and Francis: he obtained a mad success of laughter.”
