On the 14th of this month Carl Anschütz will open a Conservatory for Music in the building of the Piano Manufacturers Geo. Steck&Co on Eighth Street. The conservatory was established for the proper technical and “scientific” education of young musicians. It is important to know that although the competition among students in a school setting might be more inspiring than in individual lessons, the education time will be longer. The curriculum will be designed by the director; therefore he will not get involved with the business side of the institution. The subjects are taught by accomplished musicians whose methods have been proven to be effective and who were approved by the director. All teachers are well-known i.e. the accomplished singer Bertha Johannsen and the organist Max Braun. The director himself will also be teaching. We are convinced this conservatory will be among the best of this kind in this country by the next year.
