“There was an average house at Steinway Hall last evening. Mrs. Anna Kemp Bowler, and Signor Fortuna sang acceptably. Mr. Wensel Kopta played the violin as feelingly as usual, introducing Paganini’s G string variations. Mr. James Caulfield presided at the organ, and Mr. Leopold de Meyer delighted the audience with his piano inspirations. Mr. De Meyer was in fine musical humor. During one of his brilliant incantations, in response to an encore, he threw in the airy gems of ‘The Grand Duchess,’ which were received with almost boisterous expressions of delight. The Sunday concerts evidently lose none of their charms for the public.”
