“Amateur Charity Concert at the Hall of the Union League Club House.—The concert last evening at the hall of the Union Club House was perhaps the most brilliant of the musical and dramatic entertainments which have lately been given there under the special patronage of the Mesdames Sherwood, Blodgett, Parker, Cooper, Betts, Barber and De Birmingham. The proceeds of the entire series are to be distributed among several of the principal charitable institutions of New York. The elegant evening dresses gave a festive appearance to the occasion. And to say nothing of the skillful execution of the well known pianists, Messrs. Pease and Colby, or the singing of Mr. Stanfield, the singing of Miss Nina Sconcia, with her sympathetic and flexible voice, of Mrs. Medina and her sister, Miss Burton, bore witness to the wealth of amateur talent which we have frequently remarked needs only suitable encouragement to become one of the chief glories of our metropolis. Each of the lady singers was encored. The musical directors were Signor Albites and Mr. Dachauer.”  [List of performers and program appended]
