“The matinée on Saturday was attended by a fashionable audience, and the programme was executed with all the precision which characterizes Mr. Thomas’ performance.  Mr. J. N. Pattison performed two pieces by himself with fine effect.  He was encored in each.  Mr. Letsch also executed a solo on the trombone, producing a magnificent tone and displaying very remarkable skill on that difficult instrument.”
