“The last week of ‘Ixion’ is announced at this theatre, and if the house which greeted the popular burlesque last night is to be fairly taken as a specimen the closing nights will be among the best. As a burlesque ‘Ixion’ is as near perfection as anything which has been presented in this city for many a day. It is full of good local hits and genuine fun, but does not in any way descend to broad, suggestive humor. Miss Lydia Thompson and her assistants constitute an exceedingly strong company, and all seeking an evening’s genuine amusement may find it in witnessing the performance at Wood’s theatre. The burlesque is preceded by the comedietta of ‘The Quiet Family,’ in which Messrs. Becket and Sol Smith, Jr., and Misses Weber, Harland and Mortimer take part.”

“The wheel went round briskly last evening before an audience no doubt anxious for the first time to behold the mysteries of classic twirls. Nobody was disappointed. Lydia Thompson and troupe were present and presented ‘Ixion’ with all the desirable flourishes necessary for its production. Mercury astonished a few, and many retired from the museum firmly convinced that the gods of yore knew where the nectar was hid.”

“At Wood’s Museum Miss Lydia Thompson and troupe made herself known to many a new face last evening. The wheel of ‘Ixion’ went round with a briskness that astonished a few, while all the excellent songs, admirably sung, elicited decidedly favorable tokens of approbation.”

“The last appearance of ‘Ixion’ was an event of moment at Wood’s Museum, for perhaps never was that institution more completely packed. To the young students of classic authors the occasion must have been unusually interesting and instructive, since they learned more of the [deitie’s?] doings than their professors cared to confess. At all events their revels were witnessed with great pleasure.”
