“‘Ixion,’ with the Lydia Thompson burlesque combination troupe in the leading rôles, is still the attraction at Wood’s Museum. Notwithstanding the enormous patronage extended to this popular establishment, which is evidenced by the fact that the placard of ‘Standing Room Only’ is nightly displayed at the doors at eight o’clock precisely, the management evidently intend that there shall be no lack in the variety of attractions offered, as they unnecessarily change the programme this evening, substituting the farce of the ‘Water Witches’ for that of ‘To Oblige Benson,’ in which Mr. Beckett has made a very favorable impression as a legitimate comedian. The ‘Water Witches’ has been localized, laying the scene in Hoboken, and presents in the cast of chracters Mr. Beckett, Misses Markham, Weber and Harland. The public will be on the alert to see these merry makers in new rôles.”
Brief: “The London Burlesque Combination, consisting of Lisa Weber, Lydia Thompson, Pauline Markham, Ada Harland and Harry Beckett, continue to attract overflowing audiences to Woods Museum, the placard ‘Standing Room Only’ having been placed at the box office every night since their initial appearance.”
“‘Ixion’ has proved one of the greatest successes of the day, and is being nightly performed at Wood’s Museum to crowded and delighted audiences, who are charmed at the many local hits in the burlesque, as well as the acting, singing and dancing of the troupe.”
