Review: New York Clipper, 27 March 1869, 398.

The review reports changes in cast: Holt is still ill; the role of Genarro has been taken by Minnie Jackson, and Betrucca is now by Ms Campion. George Atkins was found incompetent to play the role of Dook  in “Perfection”, and only stayed until Wednesday, returning to play Clotilda in “Pluto” at the T. Comique, where he had been engaged. Dook was then taken by Harry Will. Emily Pitt was also ill, but it seems she worked.

[Unrelated to any particular performance]. Holt and the rest of the “English actresses” have been ill often since their arrival. The worst of all is E Holt, who’s been unable to perform since the opening night. Same page, below: “If the receipts…for February were all right and not fixed, then the Thompson troupe [Holt] sis a better business than any other combination in this city”. The theater made $2000 more than any previous month in the past, exceeding even the best month of The Black Crook.
