“The New York Amusement Company. Under this title the management of the Tammany is henceforth to be known. A stock company has been formed, with Mr. Palmer as president and Mr. Jarrett as treasurer. Any one can subscribe to the stock, and be so far interested in the management. It is proposed next season to greatly improve the Tammany, and to increase its operations. There is even a rumor of a new theatre to be built in another part of the city by the new company.”

Review: New York Clipper, 12 June 1869, 78.

Begins with notes on the previous week’s performances at Tammany Hall. “As now presented, the honors of the burlesque are fairly divided between the fairy-like Leona Cavender and the gushing Leffingwell. Miss Cavender has already become a great favorite with Tammany audiences, and she is well entitled to all the applause she nightly receives.”
