“The burlesque season at Niblo’s is nearing a close. A partial change of performance was had last evening, when an audience that filled the house in every part welcomed the return of Miss Lydia Thompson and of Mr. Harry Beckett. The representation of yesterday included portions of ‘The Forty Thieves’ and of ‘Ixion,’ while a slight flavor of novelty was imparted to it by the farce of ‘Nan the Good for Nothing.’ It was interrupted by no more unpleasant demonstrations than laughter and applause, and will probably progress with equal smoothness to-night, when it is to be repeated. The reign of Miss Thompson and her associates at Niblo’s terminates with to-morrow evening. Miss Thompson herself is to benefit by the final entertainment, which will be attractive and successful.”

“The Lydia Thompson Troupe terminated their lengthy engagement in this city on the 31st, at Niblo’s Garden, with a benefit to Lydia. During the past week there was a change in the programme. ‘Sinbad the Sailor’ was performed until Thursday evening, July 29th, when Lydia Thompson and Harry Beckett re-appeared for the the [sic] title role, and as Nan in the farce of that name. James Smith, the pedestrian, also appears and is to walk one mile in seven minutes.”
