Brief history of the opera’s premiere in Italy.

“The very pretty opera ‘Pipele,’by Ferrari, which was received with so much pleasure on Friday evening, when it was brought out, is to be repeated to-night. It is a thoroughly enjoyable, bright, and lively work.”

“An audience, more interested and appreciative than numerous, assembled at the Academy last evening to witness the second performance of Ferrari’s comic opera of ‘Pipelé.’ The opera passed off more smoothly than on its first representation, and those who were so fortunate as to be present last evening will not soon forget Miss Kellogg’s splendid vocalization in Rigoletta, nor Ronconi’s superb rendering of the part of Pipelé. Both these artists were repeatedly encored, as they deserved.”
