“At Steinway Hall last evening there was assembled another of those fashionable audiences which the enchanting little songstress can gather around her and hold spellbound while she chirps and thrills and sends forth notes which even the winged melodists of heaven might envy. Who has not heard Carlotta has missed a treat which nothing can supply. Criticism is disarmed. She enthralls the senses, drowns the imagination and seems to bear her auditors away on wings of melody almost superhuman. She sang last evening ‘Non Credea’ and ‘Ah! Non Guinge,’ from La Sonnambula;’ selections from the ‘Carnival of Venice,’ and, with Ronconi, a duet from ‘Barbiere de Siviglia.’ Enough to say she sang them. Rapturous applause and calls of encore seemed at first unavailing to tempt her to give more than she had promised, but after the Carnival song she could not withstand the storm, and, coming forward, sang a pretty little laughing song from the French, in which her admirers—were more than delighted with her exquisite performances of the music of laughter. She was ably assisted by Messrs. F. J. Prume on the violin, Ritter on the piano and Ronconi and Habelmann in their special styles of vocalization.”

“The sixth concert of the series, given last night, was also highly enjoyable, Patti singing the closing scene of ‘Sonnambula,’ the ‘Carnival of Venice,’ and with Ronconi a duet from the ‘Barber of Seville.’ Her efforts on each occasion were rewarded with the warmest applause, and in answer to a call for repetition, she introduced the charming ‘Laughing Song’ of Auber.”
