“This accomplished tenor has been giving of late a series of Monday morning concerts at Steinway’s which are said by those who attended them to have been decidedly agreeable. At the last one, Mr. Mills played, Gazzaniga sang and Mr. Arthur Matthison declaimed with good effect some of his own descriptive poems.”
“Signori Severini, who several years ago undertook to establish a series of matinees, has now succeeded in placing his concerts upon a very good basis. They are given in Steinway’s smaller hall, and afford a very agreeable resting-place for the fair pleasure-seekers of up-town. His assistant artists are usually first-class, his programmes pleasing, and his audiences select. Shoppers from out of town, who can now rarely supply their wants without approaching the neighborhood of Union Square, will do well to bear in mind these very agreeable entertainments.”
