“Steinway Hall was crowded last night by our German citizens assembled at an entertainment as thoroughly Teutonic in its character as if it had taken place at Leipsic or Berlin. The object of the concert was to increase the funds of the German Ladies’ Society for Widows and Orphans. A number of artists assisted, among them Miss Fanny Janauscheck, and Miss Anna Mehlig. The entertainment was well received by the large audience.”
