“The third of the organ recitals which Mr. S. P. Warren is giving in the large hall of the Young Men’s Christian Association, took place yesterday afternoon. Miss Nettie Sterling assisted Mr. Warren, and her rich contralto voice was enjoyed by all present. Of the organ music, a prelude in A minor by Krebs brought out some wonderful pedal playing, while an air and variations in A flat by Thiell—an exceedingly brilliant piece—displayed very well the organist’s complete command of his instrument. But the gems of the programme were a canon in A by Fischer, and the andante movement of a sonata in E flat by Fink; the latter, for sweetness and beauty, could hardly be excelled. The date of the next recital is not yet announced.”
