“A good programme of minstrelsy was presented to the patrons of the San Francisco Minstrel Hall the past week. The first part was more particularly attractive. The singing of ‘Annie o’ the Banks o’ the Dee’ by Ira Paine, the Tyrolean song by Oberist, ‘Come sit by my side, Little Darling,’ by Mr. Wambold, and the new ballad of ‘Smile Once Again,’ by C. Templeton, were all beautifully rendered and each received an encore. Billy West’s banjo songs in the olio take well, and he is called out two and three times. The ‘Fat Man’s Ball’ is a laughable affair, while Mulligan, in the ‘Wig Maker,’ keeps his audience in the best of good humor. The performance throughout was most enjoyable. Mr. Wambold having drawn out for a little while in consequence of ill health, his place will be filled by Harry Norman, a tenor who enjoys a good reputation. Mr. Norman opens this evening.”
