“We may say a word in favor of the pretty entr’acte music of Mollenhauer’s orchestra, which included selections from ‘Rigoletto,’ ‘Lucrezia,’ ‘Ernani’ and ‘Ione.’ None of Locke’s music to ‘Macbeth’ was introduced. The witches did not sing, nor did anybody else. We think that Mr. Mollenhauer might for this revival have advantageously introduced some of the spirited music of Verdi’s ‘Macbeth,’ an opera of rare dramatic power and considerable beauty of melody.”
